New Haven Board of Assessment Appeals Announces Upcoming Workshops and Deadlines
(NEW HAVEN)--The New Haven Board of Assessment Appeals will be holding four workshops on the appeals process of real estate and personal property on Saturday January 29, 2011 at both 10 and 11am as well as on Monday January 31 at both 6 and 7pm. These workshops will take place at New Haven's City Hall, 165 Church Street in the 2nd floor Legislative Hearing Room #2.
As a citizens advocacy group, the Board of Assessment Appeals feels strongly that education of the appeals process creates a better informed public. Some of the topics to be covered at the workshops include: Purpose of the Board of Assessment Appeals, Schedule of Work of the BAA, Dates for appeals to be filed, how to file an appeal, information needed for a hearing and a question and answer period. Applications for appeals will be available starting February 1, 2011 from the Assessor's Office in City Hall and on line at the City website.
This year, applications can be filed online. The deadline for applications of appeals of personal property and real estate is February 20, 2011.
